Imagine you and your loved ones relaxing in the warm summer air along the beach, taking deep breaths salty sea air in-between sips of a cool cocktail. All this and more is offered in Malta, a land of rich history and myth.
In the Malta Islands, located just south of Sicily, as the rustic narrow roads that carve their way throughout the island leading you to medieval dungeons, the “open air museum” of Calypso’s Cave, and the crowded roads of its villages, you almost feel as if you have been transported to a different time.
The people of the Malta Islands are known for their kind personalities and generous nature towards all who walk the islands. This hospitality was even referenced in the bible by Saint Paul who after being shipwrecked on the island witnessed this generosity first hand.
There is plenty to keep you entertained in Malta. For instance one can spend a day exploring the surrounding Tarxien Temples, or, if you have the means, you can explore all three of Malta’s Islands by boat listening to tales of the islands rich past. One convenience that the island of Malta offers is its extreme accessibility. With it taken no more than an hour to get from one side of the island to the other everything is easily accessible by train or bus so plan your trip accordingly.
At night, after a long day of sightseeing around the island, you obviously will need a place to sleep. Malta offers many different types of hotels from five star establishments that offer your own personal butler, to cheap hostels where one can spend their nights meeting and greeting the people around them. The highest concentration of holiday resorts and hotels can be found around St. Julian’s, Bugibba/Qawra, and Sliema, which are all situated along the Northern coastline of Malta. Its recommended one stay in St. Julian’s if you intend to spend your nights out and are without children.
For those in search of a vibrant nightlife, many take to the beautiful beaches of Malta’s sister island Gozo, which is known for its beautiful and peaceful shores. If you are in a mood to celebrate and meet some new people, the clubs in Malta are the perfect place. With nightclubs in Malta often featuring the likes of DJ Tiesto, Paul Van Dyke, and Carl Cox and the parties tend to go on into the wee hours of the morning—and with most of the clubs in Malta being open air or on the beach there shouldn’t be much to stop you from grabbing a great spot for the next day’s portion of fun in the sun.
